UNDER-20s manager Stuart Finnie has confirmed Brian Taylor as his new assistant. Taylor – known to many by his nickname, Stretch – returns to the Station Park coaching staff having previously worked with the youth team. Since then, the 37-year-old has been coaching at Nairn St Ninian, where he first worked alongside Finnie. The former defender is an ex-County player who went on to have a lengthy and successful playing career with Nairn St Ninian and an all-conquering Auldearn side in both the Nairn and Inverness Welfare Leagues. Finnie said: "We spent last season working together at Nairn St Ninian but both finished there at the end of the season, so I knew he was available and it was just a matter of trying to convince him to come up here and give it a go." "We got on really well last season and we seemed to share a lot of the same views on the game. Seeing how much the boys at Saints enjoyed his training made it a no brainer for me to ask him to come and join me." He added: "Stretch's forte is getting stuck into training. He loves getting the boys going and working them hard but also adds the fun element as well." "It is also a case of four eyes being better than two – it is good to get a different outlook on what he is seeing from the game as well, which is something I have been doing with Ronnie (Sharp, manager) at first team level with Mike Rae has been unavailable." Finnie and Taylor saw their side rack up a 4-0 home win over Lossiemouth at Station Park last night to take them on to 13 points from six games so far this season. They are next in action this coming Monday (October 24th) when they visit Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park in the North of Scotland League. Kick-off is at 8.00 pm. Graeme Macleod
