We have added a second local player to our squad this afternoon having completed the loan signing of Ben Barron from Elgin City.
We are delighted to have brought the 19-year-old to Station Park, following in the footsteps of his Borough Briggs teammate, Kenny MacInnes, who completed a permanent switch to the club earlier today.
Ben is a centre forward who will be with us for the remainder of the current campaign.
Manager Steven Mackay said: “Ben is a player who I have admired for quite some time now and I am delighted that we will have him until the end of the season.
“I like the way he plays the game – he is strong, athletic and is hungry to score goals. He is also a local boy and I have no doubts that he will become a fans’ favourite.
“Hopefully, he will get the game time that he needs with us and we can suppport him with his development.”
Ben came through the youth ranks at Inverness CT and made his first forays into senior football with a loan spell at Forres Mechanics in 2022, scoring twice in nine appearances.
He made the switch to Mosset Park permanent that summer and enjoyed a successful spell with the Can Cans, netting 14 times in 32 appearances, including a goal against us in a game we eventually won 4-3 in November 2022.
He moved on to Elgin City in the summer, scoring on his debut against St Johnstone in the Challenge Cup and has so far made 20 appearances for the Borough Briggs club.
Ben also has a family connection to the club – he is the great grandson of Bob Gordon, who was president of Nairn County when we won the Highland League championship in 1976.
