So what is happening at your club “behind the scenes”? Our plan is to provide supporters of Nairn County FC regular updates on the work being carried out by our small team of volunteers at Station Park both during the season and during the busy “close season” (Please be assured that we take all COVID related precautions while working at the park). Pitch wise we have had a major challenge this winter in that due to the 1st teams usual training facility not being available we were faced with having the 1st team training on the park two nights per week on top of the few home games we have actually played …the use of Station Park from October to January equated to almost a full season worth of usage….during the very wet autumn / winter. It is testimony to the huge effort of last summer when we undertook the massive task of coring the entire pitch and dressing with sand, that the pitch stood up to what was a very significant amount of rainfall. No sooner was our Cup game v Broxburn completed when lockdown kicked in again….and so did the winter!…in fact it was only the middle of February when we managed to get a pitch repair completed from the cup game. Jobs completed up to the end of February (bearing in mind the extremely low temperatures and our ageing bodies/sensitivity to the cold ❄️. Main mower serviced (by ourselves) and all cutting decks removed, stripped down, greased/lubricated then reassembled and reset ready for the growing season! Home and away dugouts power washed, scrubbed and borders cleared out/sanded. A slightly longer update than we plan to do going forward but this takes us up to beginning of March…..things have started to ramp up now and the job list is growing by the day………further update (and maybe some pictures) coming soon. Stay safe Grounds Team Derek Steel
