We can announce that Nathan Grant has agreed a new three-year contract and been promoted to the First Team squad.

Nathan is a 20-year-old from Nairn who can play in defence or centre midfield.

Manager Ronnie Sharp said:

“Nathan has worked hard during pre-season and toward the end of last season, which he became involved in training with the First Team on a more regular basis.

“He has shown he has the potential to make the step from Reserves Team football up to the First Team and we are delighted to give him that opportunity.

“The players have taken to him well and he certainly has the personality to fit in with the squad – coming up the Reserves is not something that has fazed him at all.

“The hard work starts now for Nathan though. It is up to him over the next few years to continue his development and do everything he can to become a regular in the starting team.”

Director of Football, Graeme Macleod added:

“We are all delighted for Nathan that he has got himself to a position where we are able to offer him this contract and that is all down to him and his hard work.

“We know Nathan’s father has a big influence on him too and we are delighted for him and the rest of the family as well. It is a big achievement for Nathan and a milestone in his career to be promoted up to the First Team squad and it is now up to him to kick on.

“Nathan has been with the club a long time now and all the coaches who have worked with him over the years have all had their part to play in him reaching this stage of his career.

“He follows in the recent footsteps of the likes of Ciaran Young, Sam Gordon, Seamus McConaghy and Lewis Mitchell, who have all made that step from the Reserves up to the First Team.

“I look forward to seeing Nathan’s continued progression over the next three years with us.”

Grant joined us in 2015 as a 13-year-old and has played in our Under-15s, Under-17s and Reserves Team prior to making his First Team debut on December 18th last year in the 3-2 home win over Rothes.

His full debut came on his second appearance – a 5-3 victory over Turriff United at Station Park on the final day of last season.

He has featured in every pre-season fixture so far this summer. Nathan also made 18 appearances for the Reserves Team in the North Caledonian League last season, scoring three times and being the joint winner of the our Reserves Team Coaches Player of the Year award.

He also earned a nomination for the North Caledonian League Player of the Year prize. Image by Kenny Macleod Photography.
