NAIRN County have secured the signature of former Ross County midfielder, Tom Maclennan. The 21-year-old is cup-tied for tomorrow afternoon’s Highland League (Morganti) Cup quarter final clash with Fraserburgh at Station Park having appeared for Clachnacuddin in the last round of the competition during a short stint at Grant Street Park. However, he is expected to go straight into Ronnie Sharp’s squad for Wednesday night’s trip to Fort William on league business. Sharp said: “Tom came to us after he left Clach to ask if he could come along to training with a view to signing. We spoke to Stevie Ferguson and Stuart Kettlewell at Ross County about him and they both spoke well of him. “He has shown up well in training with the squad as we would expect from a player of his background. He had three-and-a-half years of full time football with Ross County and only just left there at start of the year having been part of their squad which won the SPFL Development League last season. “He can play in an attacking midfield role and that is an area of the park where we need to improve. In the last few games, it is our decision-making over when to pull the trigger and when to play an extra pass that has been letting us down and our next top scorer after Jordan (MacRae) and Dylan (Mackenzie) is only on four goals. That tells you that we are lacking goals from other areas of the park and hopefully bringing in Tom can help us to work towards solving that problem.” Maclennan spent time on loan at Rothes last season as well as playing a handful of games in the Highland League for Clachnacuddin after finishing with Ross County just after New Year. He has put his signature on a one-and-a-half-year deal at Station Park. Graeme Macleod
