A POOR start to the second half cost Nairn County under-20s dearly as they went down to Lossiemouth at Station Park. Lossie were inches away from opening the scoring on 18 minutes. Brodie Allen spun and fired goalwards from just inside the box but his shot deflected narrowly past the post. The visitors called Nairn goalkeeper Fraser Wilkie into action on 31 minutes. Scott Campbell slipped a pass in behind County left back Jack W. Maclean for Baylee Campbell to run on to. But his angled drive was beaten away by the home number one at the near post. Seamus McConaghy got in behind the Lossie defence for the first time on 54 minutes but his low ball across was just too far in front of Ryan MacBean and Alex Geddes for them to apply a finish. But, a minute later, Lossie opened the scoring. Kelvin Mackenzie whipped across an in-swinging delivery from the right which was left by everyone and sneaked in at the far post. The visitors doubled their lead on 62 minutes. A corner in from the left was met by the head of Kelvin Mackenzie as he powered the ball beyond Wilkie from close range. But the home side pulled a goal back just three minutes later. Seamus McConaghy continued his fine form in front of goal as he drifted in from the left and powered a low effort across goal and into the far corner. McConaghy then fed Ryan MacBean on 71 minutes as Nairn searched for a leveller and he turned and shot across goal but his effort went just wide. Nairn County – Wilkie, Cuthbert, J. W.
