County shared the points this afternoon with Formartine United, following a fast-paced match at a foggy Station Park.

Today’s game started with opportunities for both sides, but early drama almost unfolded as Formartine were close to an own goal in the 3rd minute. With Lewis Wilson almost putting it past his own keeper, a corner was awarded to Nairn. The corner kick met Matthew Wright, who put it just wide before being flagged offside.

Formartine nearly opened the scoring when Tyler Mykyta picked up on a loose ball and weaved his way into the box but was denied by a fine Dylan Maclean save.

Nairn’s goal came in the 29th minute, with an unexpected diving header from Andrew Greig that met the bottom right corner, crossed by Matthew Wright.

The half-time whistle came shortly after an opportunity for Formartine, with a low shot from Paul Campbell that was saved by Maclean.

Formartine’s equaliser came in the 54th minute, with a penalty taken by Jonathan Crawford that was converted to the right hand side of the goal. The original foul committed by Ali Morrison.

A short time later, there was a chance for Nairn. A fantastic bicycle kick from Matthew Wright was on-target, but was unfortunately cleared from the goal line by a Formartine United defender.

Dylan Maclean in goal thwarted Paul Campbell once again with a low save when the Formartine number nine broke through the defence.

Both teams pushed forward in search of a last-minute winner. Dylan Maclean pulled off a great save before the game drew to a close following a powerful shot from Sam Gordon that forced a save at the other end.

Nairn County will next play away at Lossiemouth at Grant Park, on Saturday 14th September at 3pm.
