We are delighted to announce the return of Matthew Strachan on loan from Inverness CT as he joins us for a second time.

The left-sided defender initially joined us exactly a year ago and has made the move back to Station Park until the end of the season having spent the first half of this campaign on loan at Brora Rangers.

The 18-year-old goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Fraserburgh.

Manager Steven Mackay was delighted to have bolstered his defence ahead of some critical games over the next few weeks. He said: “It is a timely boost for us to bring Mattie back to the club and we are really pleased that we have been able to bring him in.

“He has obviously been with us before, so he already knows most, if not, all of the players we have in the squad, so hopefully he is able to settle right in and I have no doubts that he will do that.

“We saw last season during his time with us what a talented player Mattie is and as he has continued to grow in confidence and experience over the last 12 months, I am sure we will once more see a player who will be a great asset to us between now and the end of the season.

“With the situation with George Robesten’s injury and him returning to Ross County earlier today, it freed up a space for us to bring another loan player in, so when we heard Mattie was coming available, it made sense to jump at the chance as it was a complete no-brainer. We are delighted that Inverness CT have allowed him to join us and I would like to thank them for trusting us with Mattie’s development once more and allowing us to get the deal done in time for him to be involved in the game tomorrow.”

Matthew made eight appearances after joining us last season, scoring his first senior goal in the 2-0 home win over Huntly on March 11th. Prior to that, he had made five appearances for Inverness CT in the Championship earlier in the season as well as captaining the team in the Challenge Cup match away at Hamilton Academical. He is also a former Scotland schoolboys international, winning four caps in matches against England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.
