The club is aware of mounting media speculation this week surrounding our player, Jordan MacRae and wishes to clarify its position. Nairn County was approached just under a fortnight ago by two clubs for permission to discuss with Jordan the prospect of a transfer. Following discussions between the player, the club’s manager Ronnie Sharp and Director of Football Graeme Macleod, these requests were granted. Jordan then spoke to both clubs in question but has now intimated to Nairn County that his preference is to remain at Station Park. He said: “First of all, I would like to say thank you to Ronnie and the club for allowing me to speak to the two clubs in question and I would like to thank both clubs for their interest. It is extremely flattering to be wanted by other clubs and they both have great plans for the future – I wish them well with that. “But at this stage of my career, it just did not feel right leaving Nairn. I feel that Nairn is the best place for my development as a player and I have learned a lot in such a short space of time since coming into the team at the start of last season. I want to continue that and I want to be part of the ambitions for the future of the club that Ronnie and Graeme laid out to me. “The setup is fantastic at Nairn and there is a great team spirit within the dressing room and across the whole club as well. We are all really close as a team and I regard a lot of my team mates as my best friends not just at football but away from the club too. I would have found that difficult to leave behind at this stage. “The fans at Nairn have been great to me and I can assure them all that I am fully focussed on doing the best I can for the club and hopefully scoring lots more goals in the future. I love it at Nairn and I am really happy here. Although I am disappointed that today’s game is off, I am already looking forward to going to Lossiemouth next weekend and hopefully helping us get back to winning ways.” Manager Ronnie Sharp added: “It is a real boost for us that Jordan has decided to stay. We always knew there would come a day when clubs would take an interest in him – it was always going to happen with the form he has shown this season. We would never stand in his way if he wanted to take an opportunity that he felt would further his career and we would do the same for any player. But I am delighted that he sees his future at the club. “He is still a young player and in the development stage of his career. I feel he can continue to get even better over the next few seasons and hopefully that is here at Nairn. “We had a chat with him when the approaches came in and laid out how we see him progressing personally and where we want to take the team. He said he would like to listen to what the other clubs had to say, which was perfectly fine but now he has come back and said he wants to stay, which is great news.” County’s progress and MacRae’s concomitant good form this season has seen the 19-year-old net 12 times in 20 appearances. That brings his overall tally for the club to 20 goals in 58 appearances. Graeme Macleod
