NAIRN County have secured the services of Ryan MacDonald on an extended contract. The versatile 25-year-old has agreed a further one-year deal at Station Park with a one-year option. MacDonald joined the club from Clachnacuddin last summer on an initial one-year deal and has made 31 appearances in his maiden season with County. Manager Ronnie Sharp said: “Ryan gives us a number of options due to his versatility. He can play at full back on either side, in the middle of the park or the centre of the defence, depending on what system we choose to play and how we look to set out the team. “It is in the midfield where he has played mostly for us and I think he has been excellent. He is an energetic player and brings a bit of aggression as well as also being good on the ball and I thought he was superb in there alongside Adam Porritt and Cohen Ramsay on Saturday. “It is great news for us that he has agreed to extend his stay as he is at an age where he will still have his best years ahead of him, like a lot of the players in the squad at the moment. We look forward to him being a part of the squad again next year.” MacDonald started his career in the youth setup at Ross County. He spent four seasons at Clachnacuddin following his release from Victoria Park as a 19-year-old and also enjoyed a loan spell at Fort William during his time at Grant Street Park. The Lilywhites lifted the 2013/14 Highland League (Morganti) Cup when MacDonald was on their books. Graeme Macleod
