THE Nairn County players will be stars in stripes next season following the release of the club’s new home kit. The PUMA-manufactured gear sees yellow and black vertical stripes return to the jersey for the first time since the kit worn by the 1975/76 Highland League championship-winning team. It is the first time the club has played in a PUMA kit and reflects the growth in the relationship with the German manufacturer’s UK retailer, Genesis Teamwear, who also supplied new training wear last year." The four black vertical stripes and one black shoulder stripe sit on a cyber yellow background to give the ultimate contrast from light to dark. The kit also features a triangular black spray design across the chest with the logo of the new main sponsor, Logical Print and Document Solutions sitting on top. The shirt is 100% polyester with a bio-based wicking finish and features a crew neck and black contrast shell fabric cuffs. It will be teamed with black shorts featuring the club logo embroidered on the right-hand side as worn. The socks are cyber yellow with the black PUMA cat design knitted to the front, cotton heel and toe for comfort and an ankle brace for stability. The kit was launched by club captain Gregg Main at Station Park this evening. The skipper said: “The new kit looks and feels superb and I cannot wait to get back here to wear it in a game for the first time. “It is special to me that the stripes are back as I know how important that design is to the history of the club and to the fans because it was the strip worn by the only Nairn team to have won the league." “I am looking forward to getting back to pre-season training in a few weeks. It is the first time I have done a pre-season in three years because of different injuries and it is not something I usually look forward to! This is different though because I have been out injured since last April. I have been working hard at my rehab and the club have been great with me by putting me through regular physio appointments, which has kept me on the right path." “When you see the new kit it just gets you even more excited about getting back to playing again in the new season and if we can be half as successful as the team which last wore that sort of design for the club then we will be doing well.” The club hope to have the new kit on sale at the start of next month.
