Young full back Jamie Carnihan has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with us.
The 18-year-old defender joined us last summer from Inverness CT and in his debut season in the Highland League, he made a total of 31 appearances for us, starting 18 times and scoring once with a late winner away at Wick Academy. He also provided the assist for Sam Gordon’s extra time winner against Ross County in the final of the North of Scotland Cup back in November.
Manager Ross Tokely was delighted to secure the future of another young player, having extended Aaron Nicolson’s contract last week. He said: “Jamie has had a year in the Highland League, so he now knows what it is all about.
“He had a solid first season with us and the challenge for him now is to work on the areas of his game which need improved and to clock up more starting appearances for us next season.
“It will be a challenge for Jamie but he has already shown the levels required and he has the ability to be a very good right back for the club. We will work with him on the training pitch over the season to help him continue to improve. His attitude and his commitment to his game cannot be questioned and me and the rest of the Management Team are excited at the prospect of him developing over the next couple of seasons.”
Jamie appeared for the Inverness CT first team in games against Raith Rovers and Hamilton Academical after making his way through the ICT youth development programme. He also earned caps for Scotland schoolboys, appearing in the Centenary Shield against the other Home Nations.
