We have added a further two new players to our Reserves Team squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Halkirk United in the North Caledonian League.

Goalkeeper Fraser Wilkie (21) and 17-year-old midfielder Robbie Lean have both signed up to join Stuart Finnie’s squad.

Finnie said:

“Fraser and Robbie have been training with us for the last few weeks and have done well enough to show that they will add something to the squad.

“It is always good to have extra goalkeeper competition and Fraser provides that. We only had one goalkeeper last season, so Fraser will challenge Gus Wilson for the shirt with our Under-18s goalkeeper, Reid Peterkin also pushing hard to be involved too.

“Robbie is a player we have been aware of for a few seasons now. He has a good grounding coming in from Elgin City and although it may take him time to adapt to playing men’s football, we are confident in his ability to make a positive impact for us this season.”

Director of Football, Graeme Macleod added:

“Both Fraser and Robbie are local guys from Nairn along with Shaun Young and Calum Grant, who we added to the Reserves squad a couple of weeks ago, so we are delighted to get them in and strengthen our core of young, local players.

“Robbie is still young enough to play Under-18s football but we feel he has all the tools to come into the Reserves squad now while Fraser is a guy who has been with us before and although his work commitments have kept him out of the game for the last year or so, he has been training hard and working with the First Team goalkeepers too.

“These guys, along with the rest of the Reserves Team squad and Under-18s will get their chance with the First Team if they can earn it. Indeed, Fraser has done well enough in training to be in contention for Saturday’s game against Forres Mechanics and you just have to look at Rory Williamson, who is the same age as Robbie and still young enough to play Under-18s football but has appeared in all but one of our First Team matches this season.

“The opportunities are going to be there for Fraser, Robbie and the rest of the young players but it is up to these guys to earn it by performing well in training and games.”

If you want to sponsor either Fraser or Robbie for the season or any of our other remaining Reserves players, please drop us a message or email info@nairncountyfc.co.uk:
