North Caledonian League Player of the Year, Ben Kelly, has become the next new addition to our squad of the summer.
Ben joins us having spent the last two seasons with Invergordon, where he enjoyed a prolific campaign last year, scoring 31 goals in 28 appearances and lifting the Football Times Cup and the North Caledonian Cup along the way.
The 25-year-old has agreed a one-year contract with us after a successful trial period, which saw him link up with the squad at the start of pre-season training.
Ben is an attacking player, who is comfortable leading the line or playing in a slightly deeper role off the front.
Manager Steven Mackay said: “Ben is a player we were tracking over the course of last season and we are delighted to now bring him to the club.
“He had an excellent season with Invergordon last year and everyone we asked spoke positively of him and his potential to step up to the Highland League.”
He added: “We invited Ben along to join us for pre-season training when the squad returned earlier this month and he has done really well. He is clearly a fit boy and keeps himself in really good shape, which will stand him in good stead for the coming season.
“The challenge now for Ben is to come in and earn a place in the team and successfully make that transition from the North Caledonian League. Having played for a good Invergordon side in the last few seasons, I think he is now ready to do that and we are all looking forward to continue working with him over the coming season.”
Ben becomes our third new signing of the close season after the arrivals of Jamie Carnihan and Lewis Munro. He is in contention to debut when we visit the Western Isles Island Games Select team for our first friendly of the summer on Saturday.
