We have a free weekend in the North Caledonian League tomorrow but Reserves Team Head Coach Stuart Finnie has still been busy making additions to his squad.

Midfielder Calum Grant and winger Shaun Young have joined the squad to bolster Finnie’s options.

Grant (23) and 17-year-old Young have both been at the club before and featured from the bench as trialists in last weekend’s season opening win over St Duthus.

Finnie said:

“Calum and Shaun have been training with us and have impressed enough in the sessions and games they have played to earn deals with us.

“We were looking for players who could enhance the group and we feel Calum and Shaun fit the bill.

“We know what both players are capable of and the potential they have, so we are looking forward to working with them and seeing their development over the course of the season.”

Director of Football Graeme Macleod added:

“We are delighted to add both of these players to the Reserves squad.

“Calum was with us in our Under-20s a few years back then moved to Aberdeen to attend university. He has now completed his degree and is back living locally. We were looking for some experienced players to join the Reserves squad this season and Calum fits the bill.

“He is a player we were disappointed to lose when he moved on, so we are delighted to have him back. He has kept himself playing regularly while he has been living in Aberdeen and joins us from Northstar Inverdee.

“Shaun was also with us before in the Under-15s but left when he took up boxing. Again, we were disappointed at that at the time but respected his decision. He looks to have benefitted from his boxing training as he seems a stronger player, which makes him a big threat on the wing once you add in his natural pace.

“We lost a few from the Reserves Team over the summer through university and other commitments, so it is great to be able to bolster this squad. All the players at that level will be given the chance to step into our First Team squad if they should the right attitude and ability.

“We also hope to be able to further strengthen the Reserves squad prior to their trip to Halkirk next week.”

We are looking for sponsors for the two new players along with a couple of other members of the Reserves Team.

All funds raised through this goes to supporting the squad throughout the season.
