Forward Aaron Nicolson will now leave the club this summer to pursue a further education opportunity in Edinburgh.
The 18-year-old striker had agreed a new contract with us at the end of last season but will now be relocating over the summer.
Manager Ross Tokely explained: “Aaron has thought long and hard about what he wanted to do and if he was staying locally, he was committed to being part of the squad in the new season. But having taken time to assess his career options outside football, he has now decided to move to Edinburgh for his studies, which is completely understandable.
“Aaron will be looking to get himself fixed up wtih a new club before he makes the move, so he will be travelling down for trials over the close season with our blessing. However, we have also said to Aaron that he is welcome to join the squad for pre-season training until he makes his move.
“On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to thank Aaron for his service to Nairn County. I don’t think anyone who was at the North of Scotland Cup final will ever forget that game and Aaron played a huge part in us winning it with his hat-trick. We all wish him the very best.”
Aaron is a former Scotland schoolboys international who joined us from Inverness CT last summer. In 14 starts last season, he scored eight times, including that hat-trick in the North of Scotland Cup, becoming only the second player in Nairn County history to score a cup final treble after the great Davy Johnston.
