TWO blasts of quickfire doubles put Nairn County into the first round of the Highland League Cup where they will now face Inverurie Locos this Saturday at Station Park.

In this preliminary round tie against Fort William, County opened the scoring on 26 minutes as Alan Pollock played Conor Gethins in on goal and the striker did the rest, clipping the ball over advancing goalkeeper Robert Lewandowski.

Just three minutes later, Nairn were two goals to the good. Lewandowski failed to deal with Martin MacDonald's high ball forward as the stopper dropped the ball to Gethins. His effort hit the base of the post but the rebound landed at the feet of Sam Urquhart, who had a tap in.

Robbie Duncanson made it three with just 10 minutes left after playing a neat one-two with Urquhart on the edge of the box.

Gehtins netted his second of the afternoon in the closing stages as he bundled the ball home after Alan Pollock's effort was too powerful for Lewandowski to hold on to.
