GOALKEEPER Fraser Wilkie has tonight joined Nairn St Ninian on loan. The 18-year-old stopper will be with the Showfield side until December 31st. Wilkie joins Saints in their maiden Super League season, with Mike Hendry’s men currently sitting fifth in the 14-team division. They take Division 1 mid-table outfit Banchory St Ternan at home in the Regonial Cup tomorrow with Wilkie in contention to make his debut, pending SFA clearance. County boss Ronnie Sharp said: “It is a good opportunity for Fraser to go out and play games at a good standard of football. The Super League is essentially one grade below the Highland League, with a lot of teams in it capable of holding their own in the Highland League as Banks O’Dee have shown in the Aberdeenshire FA cup competitions." “Fraser is still only 18 but he has been in and around the first team squad for about two years now and he is reaching the stage where regular football against adults is what he needs to kick him on again. He will still be able to play for us in the under-20s league, so we can keep tabs on him but when Saints asked about taking him it made sense for all parties as we are always happy to help Saints out and Fraser benefits too.” Wilkie has made one solitary appearance for the club, keeping a clean sheet in a 5-0 win over Fort William on March 11th 2017. He also spent time on loan at Inverness City and Inverness Athletic last season. Graeme Macleod
