We are delighted to announce that midfielder Wayne Mackintosh has signed a new contract with us to the summer of 2024.

The 35-year-old will continue in his dual role as First Team player and Under-18s Head Coach as part of the deal, with the club continuing to support him on his coaching pathway. The Under-18s welcome a Shetland Select side to Station Park for a friendly match this evening at 6.15 pm.

Wayne returned to the club as a player in September and immediately became a regular in the side. He had spent the previous season at Rothes after a three-year spell at Formartine United.

Manager Steven Mackay said: “It is great news for the club that Wayne has agreed to extend his career with us by another season.

“Wayne’s effort and work rate in pre-season training has been nothing short of phenomenal and I am sure he will see the benefits of that in the levels of performance he is able to reach throughout the season. He is an important member of the squad with all the experience he brings from his long and successful career.

“Wayne continuing as the Under-18s coach is also excellent for the club and the players in that squad. He has such infectious enthusiasm for football and he is the right character for that role. It is great for our young players to have someone who has had the career Wayne has had so far as their coach.”

Wayne debuted for the club on March 17th 2004 and after winning two North of Scotland Cups and a Highland League Cup, he moved on to Formartine United in 2017 where he picked up another Highland League Cup, an Aberdeenshire Cup and an Aberdeenshire Shield.

Wayne’s home kit for the new season is sponsored by Ritson Young. Want to sponsor his away and third kits? Drop us a message on Social Media or email info@nairncountyfc.co.uk.
