A message from Donald Wilson who is leading the Supporters’ Ground Improvement Fund 2.
A BIG shout to Ali Nicol and the very generous bidder whose successful bid of £625 brought the John McGinn shirt auction to a close for the second Nairn County Ground Improvement Fund.
Two tops from Ali have now raised £1375 and brings the total GIF 2 appeal to £3900. The club was indebted to the many thousands Ali raised for GIF 1 a decade ago.
I said at the outset this one would be a slow burner but a lot has been going on behind the scenes.
Here’s a taster of things to come:
BIKES’N CASTLES: Mike McPherson, a lifelong fan and former committee member is doing a sponsored cycle run on Friday, July 21st round ten Nairnshire and Inverness castles with Larry Walker. Fellow Stillgamer Eric Summers will be joining them part of the way.
Mike will be setting up GoFundme page and using sponsor sheets. But fans will also get the opportunity to put cash in a collection bucket at the friendly matches against Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Station Park on Tuesdays 4th & 11th July.
To give Mike a push start he is inviting a donation from any business to be his main sponsor of the event £200 and additional £30 sponsors for each castle visited.
CURRY Night: We will be staging a Curry Night courtesy of the Royal Bengal on two midweek evenings…probably Wednesday and Thursday in the coming weeks. There will be 70 covers for each sitting £20 a ticket. We will also make a donation to Mikeysline from this event. Details to follow but please help fill these seats.
CLASSROOM WHISKY TASTING: Ryan and Ken at the Classroom have kindly offered a whisky tasting in association with a leading supplier of the amber nectar. This promises to be a cracking night for the whisky connoisseur. Watch this space.
LADIES DAY & PROSECCO BURN-OUT: In the pipeline is a Prosecco burn-out and a ladies day at a game this season.
Rev Manders, who has been helping behind the scenes is also working on one of the biggest wine tastings to hit Nairn ever. One of the country’s top wine experts will feature.
Caroline Mackay has kindly offered to organise a wine draw towards the festive season with individuals making a donation to the GIF and a bottle of wine with everyone entered into a draw to win the donated bottles. Again watch this space.
AND TO COMPLETE THE CAST…… Oor very own Jean Morrison will be treading the boards along with the new Community Acting and Singing Together troupe at the Nairn Community Centre on December 22 and 23 when they will present their first pantomime. This promises to be a sell out and proceeds will be divided between the GIF and TeamHamish. Jean will be aided and abetted by Karen Kemp and Dionne Monterio.
