Match Report by John Dolan
Nairn travelled to Seafield Park on Saturday for an encounter with a Strathspey Thistle side enjoying its best ever start to the Highland League.
It turned out to be a thriller, but it was the travelling Wee County fans who were celebrating at the end as they watched their side fight back from 3-1 down to win.
County boss Wayne Mackintosh handed Paul Brindle his first start among five changes to the starting line up – in place of Ben Barron who was listed among the substitutes – and he repaid his boss by giving the visitors the lead in 18 minutes when he diverted a Gary Pullen shot from the edge of the box beyond the home goalkeeper.
The Jags equalised shortly afterwards through Josh Race after County failed to deal with a free kick from deep into the box before Filip Franczak had the home side in front converting at the far post after good work from Callum Brown down the right.
And it was 3-1 to Ryan Esson’s side when Shaun Morrison Netted just before the half hour racing through to slide the ball beyond Lewis Munro. (H-T 3-1.)
County’s sensational come back got underway on the hour when captain Fraser Dingwall’s headed home Calum Mackay’s corner kick to cut the deficit.
Barron then equalised for Nairn as he got his head on the end of an Andrew Greig cross from the right before some fine play from the big striker saw him race down the left and set up Brindle to cap a magnificent come back.
Despite his two goals, Brindle’s afternoon would come to a premature end when the ref showed him a red card as he collected a second booking in injury time.
