Callum Ednie and Ryan Macleod have agreed new contracts with Nairn County. Left back Ednie joined the club last season and featured for the under-20s in the North of Scotland League. That caught the eye of new boss Ronnie Sharp, who has included Ednie in pre-season training since taking over manager's role on July 11th. The youngster, who is still eligible to feature for the under-20s, came off the bench for the first team during the friendly win over Nairn St Ninian and made his first start for the club in Saturday's victory at Inverness City. Goalkeeper Macleod signed for Nairn from Clachnacuddin during last season and also linked up with the under-20s squad. Following the departures of Calum Antell and Sam Maclean this summer, he has been used as cover for Dylan Maclean and was an unused substitute in the Saints match before making his debut from the bench at Inverness City on Saturday. He is also still young enough to feature in the under-20s league this season. Ronnie Sharp said: "I am delighted that both of these players have agreed to commit their futures to us." "Both of them played for the under-20s last season and have done well at that level. They have also shown up well since coming into the first team squad and we look forward to seeing them continue their development." "It is the way the club is going to have to go now bringing through our own players from the youth setup and the 20s and this shows that if you perform well at that level then the chance will be there for you to move up into the first team squad." Both players are expected to be in the squad for Saturday's season opener against Brora Rangers. Graeme Macleod
