BREEDON HIGHLAND LEAGUE
NAIRN COUNTY v LOSSIEMOUTH
8PM, WEDNESDAY 19TH AUGUST 2026
STATION PARK, NAIRN
Written by Pierce Menzies
The Wee County return to Station Park tomorrow as Wayne Mackintosh’s side face high-flying Lossiemouth in another midweek fixture in the Breedon Highland League.
Mackintosh’s men will be hoping to get some more points on the board after Saturday’s 2-0 loss away to Fraserburgh; with Aidan Wilson likely to remain the Wee County’s main outlet in attack as he scored in each of his first two games for the club.
However, it’s unlikely to be easy as Lossiemouth sit joint top of the table after their 2-1 Moray Derby victory against Forres Mechanics.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s match, Mackintosh said: “They [Lossiemouth] have made a great start to the season and picked up some good results. They have momentum behind them and they will want to keep that going.
“It was a pretty even game when we played them at home last season, so I am sure they will arrive confident that they can get a result. We will have to be at our best if we want to win the game.”
Lossiemouth’s last Highland League victory against Nairn was in September 2022 where the Coasters ran out 5-1 victors, but Nairn are unbeaten in league meetings since then.
The Wee County did the double over Lossiemouth last season, with a 3-1 victory away at Grant Park in November followed by a 1-0 win at home as Jaimie Carnihan scored the only goal of the match.
Mackintosh wasn’t surprised by Lossiemouth’s start to the season, he said: “There was not much between the teams on the day when we played them at the end of last season and they have then gone out and made some really good additions to their squad over the close season.
“They are well coached by a good management team too, who have set out a clear plan of where they want to take the club.
“They are doing a great job, and I am sure they will continue to take Lossiemouth in the right direction.”
Lossiemouth’s summer signings have made an immediate impact; with forwards Brodie Allen and Aidan Cruickshank have both scored three goals since their arrival, whilst Baylee Campbell was a standout performer in the Moray Derby against Forres Mechanics.
