THE under-20s dumped Alness United 5-2 in their opening North of Scotland League match at the Academy Playing Fields this evening. With three overage players allowed in the squad under competition rules, Sean Webb, Gregg Main and Ross Naismith from the first team squad played from the start, although Main was red carded with 15 minutes remaining. County established a strong position at half time as they led by three goals thanks to strikes from Matty Macleod, Naismith and a trialist. Although Alness pulled a goal back, Macleod restored Nairn's three-goal advantage before completing his hat-trick in some style taking the ball down on his chest and volleying home off the underside of the crossbar. Main was then dismissed for an off-the-ball incident and Alness took advantage of their one extra man to pull a goal back late on. Nairn County – Macleod, Robertson, Barton, Munro, Webb, Main, R. Naismith, Maclean, MacRae, M. Macleod, Trialist. Subs: Alexander, Mackinnon, Millard, Wilkie. Graeme Macleod
