A QUICK-FIRE double on the hour-mark from captain Michael Morrison helped Nairn County warm up for Saturday's big Scottish Cup tie at Arbroath by comfortably seeing off Strathspey Thistle, writes Graeme Macleod. Nairn opened the scoring when the impressive Alan Pollock scampered down the right and played a perfectly-weighted reverse pass into the path of Conor Gethins. The Irish striker then slid a low shot across goal, under Strathspey goalkeeper Stevie Dunn and into the far corner. Morrison was then unmarked to rise and meet a Robbie Duncanson free kick into the penalty area and the defender sent his header down and back across goal, leaving Dunn wrong-footed as the ball bounced into the net. Straight from the kick off, Nairn regained possession and won a free kick 35 yards out from goal. Morrison stepped up to curl an exquisite effort up over the wall and down into the bottom right hand corner of the net to secure the points. Efforts from Wayne Mackintosh and Glenn Main were kept out by Dunn as Nairn continued to push forward in search of more goals but the damage had already been done as County ensured that they head for Gayfield in the Cup on a high.
