YOUNG defender Craig Munro has put pen to paper on a new contract at Station Park. The 20-year-old centre-half has agreed a two-year deal to keep him with the club until the summer of 2020. Manager Ronnie Sharp said: “Craig has come on well this year and deserves a new deal to continue his development. He has all the tools to become a Highland League defender and for him, it is just a case of pulling it all together over the next couple of years." “We put him out on loan to Inverness City for the second half of their season and we have definitely seen an improvement in him over the last year. That loan spell has done him good too as he was playing regularly at a level just one below the Highland League against experienced attackers." “We want him to continue to learn from the players in our squad in his position and look to push on to challenge to make his mark in the team. He will get his chance at pre-season and he is still young enough to play in the under-20s squad for another year too, so he will have plenty of opportunities to prove himself. Hopefully, by the end of this new deal he can establish himself as a regular in the first team.” Munro is yet to make his competitive top team debut for the club but featured in pre-season friendlies last summer, scoring in the 3-0 win at Nairn St Ninian. He also made five appearances for the under-20s squad last season prior to going out on loan, scoring once. Graeme Macleod
