We are delighted to have added Matthew Strachan to our squad on a loan deal from Inverness CT.

The 17-year-old defender has joined us until the end of the season and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s away match at Inverurie Locos.

Matthew has made six First Team appearances for Inverness CT this season, the last of which came from the bench in 4-1 win away at Arbroath on January 7th. He is a former Scotland schoolboys international, winning four caps in Home Nations matches against England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.

Matthew is a left-sided player who can operate in the middle of the defence or at left back and we are delighted to have added him to our squad for the rest of the season.

Manager Steven Mackay said: “Matthew is a talented player with a big future ahead of him in the game, so we are really pleased to have brought him to the club.

“He comes really highly recommended and will bring additional qualities to our team. He is comfortable on the ball and has already been exposed to a high level of football at a young age having featured for Inverness CT in the Championship this season.

“We are delighted to have been entrusted by Inverness CT to take on this stage of Matthew’s development. We already have goalkeeper Lewis Munro on loan from Inverness and I would like to thank them for allowing Matthew to join us. This is a relationship we hope will benefit all parties and go from strength to strength in the coming months.

“Matthew met up with the rest of the squad at training last night and fitted right in. He comes into my thinking for tomorrow’s match at Inverurie.”

Strachan made his Inverness CT debut earlier this season when he appeared as a substitute against Hamilton Academical in a home league match on October 18th. He made his first start against the same opposition when he captained the team in a Challenge Cup match at New Douglas Park on December 10th.

Matthew is available to sponsor for the rest of the season. Interested? Email info@nairncountyfc.co.uk or drop us a message on Socials for more details.
