Club captain Fraser Dingwall has signed a long-term extension to his existing contract with the club in a pre-Christmas boost to all at Station Park.
The 27-year-old has pledged his future with us until the end of the 2027/28 season to deliver an early Christmas present to his manager, Wayne Mackintosh.
Centre half Dingwall has been with us since the Summer of 2018 and will now head towards a decade of service to the club now that his future is secured.
A former Players’ Player of the Year, Dingwall has been an instrumental part of the team since stepping up from North Caledonian League football when he joined us seven-and-a-half years ago and Mackintosh was delighted to tie down his skipper for the next two-and-a-half seasons.
The Manager had this to say: “Fraser’s form has been good since he came back from injury at the start of September and he played a big part in our positive run of form throughout that month.
“He is a big influence on the team and he is well-suited to playing in the Highland League, where you have to stand up to the physical challenge and be willing to battle your way to three points, particularly at this stage of the season.
“Fraser was making himself available to play during the run-in last season even though he was barely half-fit when we had games every Wednesday and Saturday and Brian Macleod, who was taking the team at the time, needed his presence on the pitch. That says a lot about Fraser’s character and his desire to do his best for the team and the club.
“Keeping at the club is a big boost for us because it would be difficult for us to find a like-for-like replacement who can readily match all of the attributes that Fraser brings to the table, so I am delighted that he has signed this long-term extension to his contract. He is a key part of the plans moving forward into next season and the Coaching Staff and myself are all looking forward to continuing to work with him.”
Fraser signed for us in the summer of 2018 after playing in the North Caledonian League with Alness United and Invergordon and the Inverness Amateur Leagues with Avoch. He has made a total of 176 appearances for us, scoring 24 goals in that time with him finding the target at least once in all eight seasons he has played for us, including a crucial opening goal in the 2-0 away win at Berwick Rangers in the Scottish Cup earlier this season. He also lifted the North of Scotland Cup as captain in 2023 and will now continue his pursuit of further success in a Nairn County shirt.
