MATTY Macleod notched his first Nairn St Ninian goal on Saturday to help the Showfield side to joint top of the First Division (West) table. Macleod came off the bench to round off the scoring in the 9-0 thumping of Whitehills on Saturday with Scott Hendry (3), Charlie Fonweban, Simon Hill (2), Gavin Chisholm and Wallace Wilson all also on target. The result saw Saints continue their fine run of form which has seen them defeat New Elgin at home 1-0, win 7-2 away at Newmachar United and record a crucial 4-3 home victory over Spey Valley United, who top the table by virtue of goal difference. The only blip was 1-0 defeat at Downfield in the Scottish Junior Cup last month leaving manager Mike Hendry and his team to focus on their championship push over the winter months. Fellow loanee Craig Munro started Saturday's game on the bench but has been featured at left back in recent weeks for the Saints but Reece Barton missed out due to work commitments. This Saturday, Saints are away to third-placed Forres Thistle. Graeme Macleod
