We are delighted to announce that we have made our third signing of the close season in the form of Jake Thomson.
The 24-year-old winger joins us from Rothes having put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the club.
It brings a successful conclusion to a lengthy pursuit of the wide man by Wayne Mackintosh, who first identified the former Elgin City and Strathspey Thistle player when he was appointed manager just over a year ago.
The boss was pleased to further strengthen his pool, with Tom McHale and Leo Walker also recruited so far this summer.
He said: “It is great for us to be able to bring Jake to the club and I think he will add a lot of quality to our attack.
“He is comfortable playing on either side and is coming off the back of a good season for him personally at Rothes. Although they will be disappointed with how their season panned out overall, for Jake, he scored 13 goals playing as a winger and that is the sort of return we are looking for from wide players in our team.”
He added: “Jake has shown a lot of desire to come to the club. He had other options but in the conversations I have had with him, he has been really determined that this is the place he wants to come and play his football next season, which is the sort of attitude we are looking for.
“He has missed the first few weeks of pre-season with us, so will take a bit of time to get fully up to speed but we will work with him to make sure that is the case.
“We are excited to see what Jake can bring to the table over the next few seasons and we are all looking forward to working with him.”
Jake Thomson said: “I am excited to have joined Nairn – as soon as I heard there was interest, it was a no brainer to come here. It feels good to have joined the club and I am looking forward to getting involved with the lads in pre-season. In the times I have played against Nairn, I have like the whole setup of the place – there is a right good vibe about it and that is what I want to be a part of.
“I feel like we have a right good chance to be at the top end of the table this season with the squad we have got and obviously, a good cup would be a good to help build momentum for us throughout the season too. I cannot wait to get started.”
Jake started his career as a youngster at Inverness CT before joining Elgin City in 2015. He worked his way through the youth ranks at Borough Briggs, including spending part of 2018/19 season on loan at Nairn St Ninian. His first taste of Highland League football came during a loan spell with Strathspey Thistle during the 2019/20 campaign and he re-joined the Grantown Jags for the 2021/22 season too. Upon moving on from Elgin City, he joined Rothes in the summer of 2022 and now joined us on a deal until 2028.
Jake is available to sponsor for the new season. If you wish to sponsor any of his kits, please contact us on Social Media or email info@nairncountyfc.co.uk.
