It is a Player of the Year, contract boost double for Nairn County Manager, Wayne Mackintosh, who has today secured the services of goalkeeper, Dylan Maclean on an extended deal.
Hot on the heels of tying down Players’ Player of the Year Andrew Greig yesterday, the boss has now moved swiftly to conclude a new three-year contract with back-to-back Supporters’ Player of the Year Maclean.
The 29-year-old shot stopper is now hunting down Callum Donaldson’s overall club clean sheet record of 55 having now kept 45 shut outs of his own in his time at Station Park.
Wayne was thrilled that another important member of the squad has pledged his long-term future to the club. He said: “Goalkeeper is obviously such an important position on the park and Dylan has proven his qualities for us many times down the years, so I am delighted that he has agreed to a new contract.
“There are not many goalkeepers available in this area who can say they have performed to as high a level as Dylan has over such a long period of time, so we are really pleased that he is going to be staying with us for the next three seasons.
“We also have Lewis Munro at the club as well, who showed what he can do in the games he played last season, so it is now down to the two of them to keep pushing each other in training and to drive high standards.
“Dylan is an experienced member of the squad now having been at the club for a decade, so he knows the club inside out and I have obviously played alongside him, so he knows what the expectations are going to be when we return for pre-season training. When we spoke, he was really keen to extend his stay with us, which was great news for me and I am looking forward to working with him.”
Dylan is a four-time Supporters’ Player of the Year, having first won the prize in 2017. He scooped it again five years later before securing back-to-back awards when he collected the trophy a year ago and at the end of the season just gone.
He first joined us in the Summer of 2015, debuting from the bench against Brora Rangers on September 9th that season. This was his only appearance during that campaign and he made his full debut on the opening day of the following season against the same opponents. Since then, he has made a total of 214 appearances for the club, including 28 last season. He played a key role in our North of Scotland Cup success in 2023, saving the decisive penalty in the thrilling shootout victory over Inverness CT at Station Park.
