Cup-winning winger Sam Gordon has pledged his future to the club by signing a new contract.
The 25-year-old wide man has spent his entire career with his home town club and cemented his cult hero status with the fans by heading home the winning goal in our 5-4 extra time North of Scotland Cup final win over Ross County almost a year ago.
Manager Ross Tokely was delighted to secure the services of the player until the summer of 2027.
He said: “I am now looking for Sam to secure a regular place in the starting team moving forward. We are delighted that he has agreed to extend his contract with us and it is great to see local players who have been at the club for a long time go on and flourish.
“The challenge now for Sam is to add more goals and assists to his game and that is the toughest part to achieve. Everyone can see on a Saturday the endeavour, the effort and the hard work that Sam puts in which is fantastic and I am now challenging him to create more chances for the strikers, gain more assists and score more goals himself.
“He is a great player to work with at training and as a coaching team, we will continue to work with Sam to help him to continue to improve his game because we all believe in him and we all want to see him succeed and do well.”
Sam played in our Under-15s, Under-17s, Under-20s and Reserves Teams and made his First Team debut against Lossiemouth in the North of Scotland Cup in July 2021.
He scored his first goal for the club against the same opposition in a 1-1 draw at Grant Park on November 6th 2021 before going on to find the net in a 5-4 win at Deveronvale the same season on December 11th and a 4-3 win at Forres Mechanics on November 26th the following year.
Of course, he then went on to head home his fourth strike for the club with the winning goal in the North of Scotland Cup final win over Ross County in November 2023.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Forres Mechanics and so far, he has made 86 Nairn County appearances.
