NAIRN County have secured the signing of midfielder Liam MacDonald on loan from Inverness CT. The 18-year-old linked up with his new teammates at training tonight and will go straight into the squad for Saturday's Scottish Cup tie with Cove Rangers. The Aberdeen-born youngster played boys club football at Formartine and Dyce before being signed up by the Dons. He moved on to Inverness CT three years ago and was an unused substitute in their first two league games of this season. MacDonald also played in both friendlies between the two clubs at Station Park over the summer months and had offers from elsewhere in the Highland League but has chosen a switch to Nairn, where he will remain for the next three months initially. Manager Ronnie Sharp said: "We needed to get somebody in because we are short of bodies in midfield right now, particularly in the holding role." "Gregg Main does not know his results from his MRI scan until November 6th, Adam and Ross Naismith have been in and out with training and matches because of work commitments and Ryan MacDonald has been away, so we needed someone who could immediately come into the team in a central midfield position and Liam fits the bill." "He is a tall, strong and powerful boy and I have no doubts that he will be an asset to us. He is highly thought of through at Inverness – he trains everyday with their first team squad and has been involved with them on a match day as well." "Myself and Graeme Macleod, our Director of Football, spoke with Scott Kellacher and Brian Rice through at Inverness and we were able to get the deal done quickly to allow Liam to be involved this weekend. I would like to thank them for their help on this one." MacDonald was a regular fixture in Inverness CT's Development Squad last season and featured regularly in pre-season for John Robertson's men. He joins teammate Stephen Foster in having made a temporary switch to Nairn from the Caledonian Stadium. Graeme Macleod
