Tonight, our second highest ever goal scorer, Team of the Century member and reigning Player of the Year Conor Gethins signed a new contract with the club.

The 38-year-old returned to the club last April and hit 16 goals in 36 appearances to take him on to a grand total of 189 goals in 225 outings for Nairn County.

His initial spell yielded 173 goals from 2011 to 2016 after he joined from Peterhead and also resulted in him being awarded the Highland League Player of the Year trophy in 2013 and 2014.

He then spent five years at Formartine United where he scored 52 goals in 147 appearances and lifted the Highland League (Morganti) Cup, Aberdeenshire Cup and Aberdeenshire Shield.

Director of Football, Graeme Macleod said:

“We are all delighted that Conor is going to be playing on next season and that it is going to be with us.

“He showed his class on the pitch last season and that he has lost none of the instincts that have made him one of the greatest goal scorers to grace the Highland League in recent decades.

“Conor adds value behind the scenes as well. As a senior player with all the experience and success he has had throughout his career, he is a player the younger members of the squad look up to and we are certainly looking forward to another season of seeing him in action for the club.”

Conor started his career with Ross County before short spells at Stirling Albion and Forfar Athletic and then returned to his native Ireland for five season with Finn Harps, which also brought a league Player of the Year trophy.

He returned to Scotland in 2010 for a season with Peterhead before his first spell with us.
