RONNIE Sharp has been handed a pre-derby boost ahead of tomorrow's trip to Clachnacuddin with Cohen Ramsay signing a two-year extension to his contract last night. The 17-year-old left-sided player has been in top form since joining the club from Ross County in the summer and is now tied down until the end of 2019/20 season. Manager Ronnie Sharp said: "It is great news for us that Cohen has agreed to commit to the club long-term." "He came in and joined us in the summer when he signed for just the one season to see how he got on but he hit the ground running and has done really well for us. He has played in almost every game so far this season, which is great for him when you think that he is still to turn 18." "He had a couple of clubs chasing him when he signed for us and I am sure his performances this season will have caught the eye of other managers, so it is great news for us that he has agreed to stay." "He has played in a couple of different positions up the left side of the team for us and has the energy and fitness to go all day long. He has the ability to play in the middle of the park as well and I see him being a huge asset to the club moving forward." Sharp added: "We now only have one or two regulars in the squad who are due to be out of contract in the summer. If a player wants to leave because it is not working out for them or has the opportunity to move on to further their career elsewhere and wants to take it then we will never stand in their way. But, having said that, we want to keep the bulk of the squad together and feel that this is the best place for the younger players to continue their development." "We are ambitious to take the club up the league table and challenge for honours but we know there are no quick fixes. We try to go about things the right way to ensure the future of the club is secure first and foremost and I am delighted that Cohen has bought into that as he can play a big role in what we are trying to achieve." Ramsay has made 19 appearances for the club so far and found the back of the net on three occasions. Graeme Macleod
