Striker Ciaran Young has agreed a new contract with us until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The 22-year-old has been dogged by groin and hamstring trouble towards the end of last season and into the pre-season period, so will now join Nairn St Ninian on loan to gain some valuable game time as he steps up his recovery.
Ciaran has yet to feature for us in our pre-season friendly matches but Manager Ross Tokely is looking forward to having him back firing again later in the season.
He said: “Ciaran has been unfortunate to pick up an injury at the tail end of last season and into the start of pre-season training which he has struggled to shake off.
“That has meant he has ended up behind the rest of the group in terms of the fitness work, so going out on loan to Nairn St Ninian for the first few months of the season will help him to catch up.
“Ciaran is very much in my long term plans. He is an excellent finisher and is great at holding the ball up. He brings us another dimension to our attack, so we are looking forward to getting him back fully up to speed and challenging for a place in the team.”
Ciaran has scored 25 goals in 83 appearances for the club since debuting in 2019. He is a product of our Youth Development Programme having played for the club at Under-15s, Under-17s, Under-20s and Reserves Team levels prior to making his debut.
He has one North of Scotland Cup winners’ medal to his name in his time with us so far having played from the start in last season’s final success over Ross County.
