Cup final hat-trick hero, Aaron Nicolson has pledged his future to the club by agreeing a new two-year contract at Station Park.

The 18-year-old hitman put in a man-of-the-match performance as his triple salvo took the silverware to Station Park back in November at the conclusion of the most incredible North of Scotland Cup final in history as we sunk Ross County 5-4 after extra time.

That treble saw us come back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2, before the Staggies’ injury time leveller forced extra time, where we prevailed, of course, thanks to those never-to-be-forgotten goals from Ben Kelly and Sam Gordon.

Aaron wrote himself into the Nairn County history books that day, as only the second player to score a cup final hat-trick for the club. He is also a former Scotland schoolboys’ international who joined us last summer from Inverness CT.

New manager Ross Tokely was delighted to tie down the teenage striker as he begins to put his own stamp on the playing squad.

Tokely said: “Aaron is a player with bags of potential who I knew a lot about before he came to Nairn.

“He now has that first season of adult football under his belt, so he knows what the Highland League is all about.

“He has a great attitude towards his football and always works really hard on his game on the training pitch.”

He added: “We know there is still a lot more to come from Aaron though and we are looking forward to working with him once we return to pre-season training and to helping him continue his development and unlock that undoubted potential.

“He will now be looking to earn a more regular place in the starting team and I am sure he will have a big part to play for us in the new season.”

Aaron netted eight goals from 14 starts in his debut season for us. Prior to arriving last summer, he spent eight seasons with Inverness CT, earning four caps for the Scotland schoolboys team along the way as he featured in all matches of the 2022/23 Centenary Shield against the fellow Home Nations.
