IT finished three goals apiece at Station Park as the Nairn County family paid tribute to captain Wayne Mackintosh.

The man of the moment was involved early on being nutmegged by Dale Gillespie in the first minute before fizzing one with his left foot just past the post a minute later.

Paul Macleod almost gifted the Select side the opener on the quarter-hour when his clearance was picked off by Alan Pollock. The midfielder drove forward before slipping in Steven Mackay but he poked the ball wide of the left-hand post.

The Select team threatened again on 21 minutes with Robbie Duncanson whipping a free kick from the right to the far post for Sean Webb to meet with a header but his effort was parried away for a corner by Dylan Maclean.

But Mackintosh got his goal on his big day 10 minutes later. Gary Kerr knocked the ball for Wayne Mackintosh just outside the left-corner of the box and he fizzed a first time shot with the outside of his right boot beyond the grasp of the diving Jim Calder and into the bottom corner.

The Select team turned the score line on its head just before the break though. Willie Barron beat the out-rushing Maclean to a floated Dale Gillespie pass on 42 minutes to head the ball goalwards. Although it came back off the face of the crossbar, the wide man was on hand to knock the ball in from almost on the goal line.

Then, a minute later, Glenn Main was judged to have tripped Alan Pollock in the box and he stepped up to blast home the penalty.

In the second half, Sean Webb produced a fine sliding challenge to thwart Gary Kerr on 55 minutes as the striker prepared to pull the trigger.

But Nairn levelled in sensational style on 61 minutes through an unlikely source. Glenn Main stepped on from defence before lifting his head and lashing the ball into the bottom right-hand corner from 30 yards out.

And five minutes later, Nairn were in front. Gregg Main whipped a free kick across the face of goal from 30 yards out on the right and Gary Kerr was the first man to it as he turned the ball home.

The Select almost levelled it on 74 minutes when Stevie Sanderson latched on to an Adam Naismith knockdown with a volley that smashed off the face of the crossbar.

The wee striker got his goal three minutes later though. Steven Mackay's cross from the right allowed to drift all the way to the far post where Stevie Sanderson was on hand to stroke home.
