THERE was no repeat of last season's miraculous comeback at Turriff United as the home side this time held on to a two-goal lead to end Nairn County's six-game unbeaten run, writes Graeme Macleod.
The closest the visitors came in a goalless first half was through a header from Martin MacDonald, which flew over the crossbar by a matter of inches.
Turriff took the lead on 59 minutes though with Gary McGowan hooking the ball home from 10 yards out after connecting with Gary Harris' right-wing cross.
Adam Naismith fired straight up Turriff goalkeeper Greg Sim at the other end before Harris made sure of the points 73 minutes. He raced away from the Nairn defence after being played in on the right by Andrew MacAskill before rifling a rising angled drive into the roof of the net from 10 yards.
