A FIVE-GOAL demolition of Turriff United sent Nairn County into the quarter finals of the Highland League (Morganti) Cup, writes Graeme Macleod.
Conor Gethins opened the scoring for Nairn 13 minutes in when he got the slightest of touches to a net-bound shot following Robbie Duncanson's delivery into the box.
Duncanson then got in on the act himself 11 minutes later when he crashed home an unstoppable drive from 30 yards out.
There was concern for Nairn when goalkeeper Callum Donaldson had to be replaced 10 minutes before the break but Michael MacCallum again stepped into the breach and excelled.
Just four minutes into the second half, County made it three. Archie Macphee cut in from the left onto his weaker right foot and cracked a sizzling shot into the roof of the net.
Martin MacDonald then scrambled home his second goal in as many games on 76 minutes before Gethins raced onto a Macphee pass and calmly placed the ball beyond the Turriff goalkeeper five minutes before the end.
Nairn will play away at Inverurie Locos in the next round of the competition on Saturday April 5th.
